Quote from R34GTR :Tyres aren't that big of a problem for me, I get them at cost + 10% anyway

wow can you hook me up with that deal as well when the time comes?

Quote from E.Reiljans :I'm pretty sure it's a fixable thing.

Also, Core2 Duo came out in 2006.

Point about VAT still stands. As I said here those components would cost 20% more.

A 2006 PC would struggle with video editing (thus it stands to reason, it'd struggle to do serious number crunching too) due to CPU architecture back then. The Core2Duo and Quad core jobbies came out in 2007 I think (cause I was working at Sainsburys at the time and that's when I bought them) so the best you could get would be a Dual core Pentium 4 which was crap.

Oh yeah Shadowww over here you'd need to add 20% to the total price for that hardware because of VAT so you're looking at about £800. You could buy a New PS3, A 360 and have enough for a mid range computer.

ED30 alloys went for £900 on ebay and they needed new tyres as well.

:jawdrop:

Plenty of BBS replica ones though for about £500 with budget tyres.

I think you should keep your polo tbh.

ED35 is out (or going to be out soon) so ED30 should lower in price a little but they are hot property, you can pick up a standard Mk5 GTI for like £7k now but the ED30 will be years before it gets to that price

Vdubs do tend to age well especially the ones post 1999/2000 period when VW started to get their act together.

I've got my eye on this;

That's an artists impression but the real car does look like that.

Yeah I didn't buy it last week, I bought the Q6600 about 3 days after it came out because I waited for the SLACR version. I think I mention that in a previous post somewhere (that it's an old system)

Perhaps you'd bear some thought to the fact I'm not a technological retard before trying to get some cheap shot off in my general direction (you have a terrible aim and I have a terrible problem with premature ejaculation)

It'd be a shame to sell up, it's probably unlikely you won't be able to find a cheaper quote. Comparison websites are your favourite, but to be honest after selling, buying another car and insuring it'd probably cost you about the same in terms of outright cost as it would just to insure the damn thing haha

@Shadowww

If that's something you did for 8 hours then I imagine you have a good understanding of it so I imagine it wouldn't be complicated at all.

Sort of when we look at chinese writing thinking WTH? And then some chinese person is like "chi wa doo ning wee wahhh ohhh" and they're like "yeah that means "hi how are you" so it's actually probably quite simple

Quote from E.Reiljans :So um, I heard PC's are only for gaming. They can't do anything else. At least Jamie told me so as an excuse why he won't pay more for a PC than he does for a console.

I paid 150 quid for my PS3, new. D: My PC has about £650 of hardware in it. That's what the CPU, ram, graphics card and Mobo cost me. I'm just saying that for the same price as it costs for a PS3 AND an Xbox 360 (£400) you'd not be able to get a computer able to play games properly. So there.

Quote :Also, Bose321's hardware is worth 700 euros at most, if by "without any peripherals" Boris meant only the tower.

Yeah you can't get that hardware for that price, maybe in Latvia where everything is stolen......

I agree with Boris here.

I have a Q6600 (still it's an OK CPU) but only 2GB of RAM and a ATI 2900HD graphics card which let my system down. Sure I could stick a newer gfx card and another 2GB of RAM but I don't have the money.

My PC works for Battlefield Play4Free, even played through Crysis 2 on medium graphics and it was fine, works for Flight Sim X when I can find time to play it and also runs my movies and web browsing fine. All the fancy DX9934343 games with 3483x1231389438943 resolution pixel maps for 1024bit textures I will just buy for the PS3 and play on that.

I will eventually upgrade my PC with new hardware but that's not important because for my needs at the moment it's fine, and it's the same sort of story with everyone else.

I can't justify spending so much money on a PC when I can buy a game which will work fresh out of the box (no need for any "upgrades") on a console.

So what the graphics are a little worse, they're only probably 10-20% (at worst) better on a PC where as the cost difference between the console and the PC is probably 75% so tell me who's the smart one....

Dirt 3 smelter action

It is a good game and I enjoy playing it but watching videos of it doesn't half make it feel more of an Arcade game than it is. I'm not saying it's a sim but it's not too bad to be honest., but videos make it look like ridge racer.

Sorry to take this off topic but in the email for the newsletter it said "write down your password and username......."

Sorry but this is very poor advice to give out. Regardless of how "not important" data is, credentials should NOT be written down. They should be MEMORISED.

Apart from that a great patch.

All budgets are shit

Tbh I had 9000 miles and about 40% worn on Goodyear Excelence on my old wheels on my golf and that was like with me going round corners way too fast and using all 260 torques to unstick the wheels at every opportunity.

Sessantas last quite well reportedly so just swap them round yourself...

Quote from Luke.S :To be honest the Hazard Perception test is pretty pointless. When you are driving you have to consider everything as a potential hazard. I suppose the test is to catch those out who would otherwise ignore hazards.

I agree.

When I did my bike test theory (basically the same questions, and - no joke - THE SAME VIDEOS, NOT BIKE SPECIFIC JUST IN CARS), I got like 63/72 on the H.P and about 48/50 on the questions.

After 2 years of being on a bike everyday (so being exposed to hazards daily), I only JUST scraped by with a like 43/72 and even had one clip cancelled for clicking too much.

It's a joke, tbh take the whole theory bit out. Sure I couldn't tell what lane I'm in on a motorway if it was pitch black and all i could see where reflecting cats eyes but hell, I can see a hazard and more importantly react appropriately.

Nadeo please stop uploading only half a photo, most irritating.

Jack, looks nice actually. People say they're useless but they're actually great at a) showing off and b) being able to keep an eye on your turbo. Over or underboosting can be spotted before it causes damage. Not sure if you've had yours remapped but even so it's a nice feature especially if it integrates into the car dash like that.
